How are we dealing with Covid 19 restrictions?

Bikeability is governed by The Department for Transport, who send us regular updates of information and recommendations, which we follow.

We now tutor only 3 students per group. Social distancing of 2m must be observed at all times.

During 1-1 tuition for absolute beginners we will be wearing PPE, a mask and gloves.

Do I have to wear a helmet?

Why would you not want to wear a helmet?  Adults can choose whether they wear a helmet or not and if not, we will ask you to complete a disclaimer form.

All children MUST wear a suitable and well fitting helmet.

What if I do not own a bicycle?

Where possible we will provide a suitable bike for 1-1 tuition. We do not own a fleet of bicycles.

Where do we tutor?

We are based in Totton / Calmore which is just off the M27 West, Junction 2 and our typical meeting point is at the Calmore Community Centre car park, SO40 2ZU. We have an excellent local road network and an area to teach absolute beginners.

In Southampton: Riverside Park, St James Park and The Common are the meeting points, where we also teach beginners and Level 1. On road tuition also begins at these meeting points.

Other tutoring areas are: Winchester; Eastleigh; Hedge End; Fareham; New Milton; Lymington; Brockenhurst; Romsey and Chandlers Ford.

Other areas can be considered upon request.

What if I live quite some distance away from you?

Many customers have travelled to us for tuition from Somerset; Wiltshire; North London; South London; Surrey; East and West Sussex; Dorset and North Hampshire.

I usually travel using my bicycle; however, if you live further afield, and I have to use the train or my car, I will have to ask for travel expenses, which can include time costs.

Do I have to form or join a group?

Most children enjoy learning in a group; this is currently limited to 3 riders plus instructor. 1-1 tuition is of course available

Can you provide group tuition for people with special needs?

This will depend on the specific needs of the individuals, please contact us using the contact form, we will be in touch to discuss your needs further.

What happens if a trainee is a slow learner?

The courses are outcomes led or specifically designed to accommodate the wants and needs of the individual. They will be given homework and asked to practise a little more until they have achieved one or more of the Level outcomes, then we move on when they are ready to do so. This will save you time, and money.

Do we still go out if it is raining?

From experience once a training session has be cancelled, it stops raining! I always check the weather forecast on the day and will contact customers if the weather could be unsuitable.

Can you help with planning and also come along with a group trip into the New Forest, tutoring us on the way?

Please note that we do not tutor mountain biking skills, however it is possible to combine a trip with some road riding tuition. We can also cover map reading exercises using an Ordnance Survey Explorer map.

Please contact us to discuss this further.

Should you have any further questions, please do contact us, we will be happy to have a chat with you.
